St. Pete business chosen as first FRESH Pace Healthy Neighborhood Store

Mike Jaber knows just about everyone who walks into his store.

It’s part of the reason St. Pete Free Clinic and city leaders chose Rajax Food Mart and Meat Market, which is located at 2327 Dr. Martin L. King Jr. Street South, as the first FRESH Pace Healthy Neighborhood Store.

St. Petersburg Free Clinic was founded in May 1970 by Warner “Butch” Anderson, a senior psychology major at the University of South Florida, and his friend, Dr. Linda Shaffer.
“We are currently looking at 1 in 6 children living in homes that are considered food insecure, and that data holds true for Pinellas County as well,” said Sky Beard, Florida Director of No Kid Hungry.
This summer there will be six opportunities for families in Pinellas County to receive free fresh food from a drive-through mobile food pantry.
