New food pantry opens in Lealman

SPFC is bringing greater access to nutritious food directly to the Lealman community with the opening of the Lealman FRESH Pantry.

In a recent Tampa Bay 28 story, local residents shared how rising food, housing and utility costs are making it increasingly difficult for families to afford the basics. With 69% of neighbors in the Lealman area living in poverty or within the ALICE population—households that are working but struggling to make ends meet—the need for accessible food assistance is significant.

Located at SPFC’s Jared S. Hetchkopf Community Food Bank, the new appointment-based pantry helps meet that need closer to home. And it represents a larger vision for the Lealman location, with plans to eventually connect neighbors with additional services, including healthcare and transportation resources.

Watch the Tampa Bay 28 story to hear from Lealman neighbors and see how SPFC is expanding access to the resources families need to thrive.
